Today, I participated in a marketing presentation targeted toward our corporation’s executive committee (of which were some sales directors).
A great key takeaway I’d love to share with my readers is:
“They only care about the WHY. Not the HOW, and certainty not the WHAT”
Running social media campaigns? Explain WHY it’s important and HOW it will positively impact the future. You can flash the performance numbers behind the screen, but do not give them the metrics.
Executives want the mile-high version, not the details.
Make sure you give them the high level information, and if they care to dive into the low-level stuff, they can simply glance at the screen behind you.
Oh, and if they aren’t looking at their cell phone and iPads, you’ve done a good job.
If they’re asking great questions, you’ve done a good job too.🙂
